We sell high quality pipestone from Southwestern Minnesota. We have pieces in a wide variety of natural shapes and sizes. Some pieces are red, while other pieces are multicolored with pink to orange tones generally on the outer layers. This stone is very workable, it can be carved, sawed, drilled, filed, sanded and polish to a high luster. Incorporating the natural surfaces of the stone can also add great beauty to your creations. Pipestone is a semi-hard sedimentary clay which comes in layers of varying thickness. Most of our pieces range in thickness of a ½ an inch up to 2 ½ inches. Occasionally, hairline cracks may result in separation of the layers, careful examination of the stone before you start your work is recommended.
